バンクーバー在住、元学校の先生のKazumaです!
バンクーバーを含め、カナダのBC州でお酒を取り扱うお店でお仕事をするには、【Serve It Right (SIR)】という資格が必要になります。
Serve It Rightがないとserverとして多くの飲食店で働くことができません。
そもそも、面接を受ける前に「Serve It Right持っていますか?」と聞かれて持っていないとその段階で面接を受けられないこともあります。
自分が働いているお店ではServe It Rightを持っていなくてもserverとして雇ってもらえますが、「出来るだけ早く取ってね」って言われます。
Serve It Rightは無料で取得できる資格ではありませんし、雇用主がその費用を負担してくれないことがほとんどだと思います。
(自分が働いているお店もその費用を負担してくれません。。)
ワーキングホリデーや留学で来ている人は、お金に余裕がないことがほとんどで「こんなのにお金を払ってられるかwww」って思うこともあると思います。
しかも英語だからより難しいと感じてしまうことも、、、
そこで、この記事を通してServe It Rightについてわかりやすく解説をしていきます。
Serve It Rightって長いのでSIRって略して表記をしていきます。
Serve It Right(SIR)とは
BC(ブリティッシュコロンビア)州で、お酒を提供するポジションで働く場合は、法律により、Serving It Right(SIR) の資格を取得する必要があります。
2015年9月15日からこのような法律がで来ました。
しかし、お酒を提供しない、カフェなどでは、SIRがなくても働くことができます。
SIRの取得方法
“Serving It Right”とGoogle検索をすれば誰でもSIRを取得できます。
かんたんなクイズやデモビデオなどのオンラインの講習を受けてから、受験料35CADを支払えばオンラインでテストを受けられます。
日本の運転免許証の学科試験のようなもので、当たり前の答えを選ぶ感じです。
